Gymnastics Rules Are Horrible

 Gymnastics Rules Are Horrible

As a step seven gymnast at CSG, (Christchurch school of gymnastics) I do really enjoy gymnastics don’t get me wrong, but I believe, that their are an exceedingly amount of rules and regulations, that are entirely unreasonable. Here is why I think so strongly about this controversy.

The main rule that the gymnastics society complain about, falls at Leotards, AKA Leo’s. We have been compelled to wear Leotards. I mean, have you ever seen a gymnast competing without a leo on? It’s just not fair. Intermittently, we can’t execute our routines, due to how uncomfortable they are. For example wedgies, tight fitting, to heavy, digs in & rides up. Furthermore, if for instance a rhinestone falls off your leo, you get a deduction! As well as, if you pull a *wedgie. You are not allowed to wear shorts either! And, if some type of clothing is showing from underneath, you also get a deduction.

*Pulling a wedgie is a well known gymnastics term meaning if you have a wedgie you pull it down at a time your not supposed too.

Another horrible rule, in the life of a gymnast that we have to tolerate is, Hair and Looks. See now this was never a proven rule, but it doubtlessly occurs. It is cogent, that you will get a much lower score, if your hair is messy, leotard is ugly, or you just don’t look up to scratch. I can assure you with this because I’ve been in this situation myself. Now, my floor routine is not so great and you can tell with the score I’m getting. The judges obviously don’t like my choreography. And that’s another example, if a judge does not like the dance in your routine, they can take as much of 0.1 - … Along with that is if for example a ribbon fell out of your hair you will get a 0.1 deduction. Together with that are nails and earrings. We are not allowed any colour of nail polish as allegedly it is distracting for the judges and hard to focus, along with earrings.

It has been a rule for almost eternity that you’ve been required to present to the judges at the beginning of your routine and at the end. If you don’t present at the end and walk off they will count how many steps you take before you present to them. If you do not present to them at all you will get a 0.00.

In conclusion I hope you will take my concept into consideration of my belief about gymnastics rules. And overall a change of thought.
